    Does anyone know of any good standalone DVR's.

    I just can't see myself paying 5 a month to something so simple as this. (I think that the HTPC route is looking better)

    ---of course I use a hauppauge wintv pvr250 and a dvd burner on my pc. Plus with a dvd burner you can backup your commercial dvds with dvdshrink (that you personally own of course ) ---
