  1. I tried to make a VCD by first using TMPGEnc to convert it from AVI to MPEG, then used Nero to burn it to a VCD. My dvd player is a Samsung DVD-P230 which says its compatible according to the list on this site yet it says there is no disk when i put it in the DVD player. The same VCD works when i play it through the DVD software on my computer. Is there something I'm doing wrong in making the VCD or am I reading the DVD player list wrong and mine is not compatible. I searched the forum for a couple hours but couldn't find any help to my problem.

    Hello,

Your player doesn't show up in this websites database.

Does your dvd player play cdr discs??? If not try cdrw discs.

Next step - try a different brand of recordable cd

If you used the VCD menu feature in Nero, Nero output is not fully VCD compatible.
    A) Author with VCDEasy. Makes the most compatible VCD possible to humans.
    B) OK then, try Nero again, but don't use a menu. Might work, even if I've never tried, after my first faliures with Nero and menu.
Hardware VCD players are much more picky than their software counterparts.
