i am doing documentary films in DV format and needing to sample small portions of old VHS tapes and DVDs. i know that i need a TBC to do some of the work and i am starting to look at proc amps. so, two questions... it seems like the TBC-1000 is the overwhelming favorite entry-level TBC.

does anyone have any other suggestions for me, or reasons why I wouldn't want to use the datavideo TBC? second... i am considering the SCC-2 for my proc amp. seems simple, reliable, relatively cheap. is this a good choice, espcially used in a chain with th TBC-1000 and an ADVC-100 (which i already have and am quite impressed with)? can you turn off the sync function in the SCC-2? i am using FCP on a dual G5 with dual 250GB disks, 4GB memory and a FX5200 video card.

thanks for the help...
