I have this non-replacable dvd that I need to copy. Problem is it has a few scracthes in it and I keep getting read errors. I was able to rip it with Intervideo DVDcopy2, but I cannot burn it using anything. Nero wont burn it neither will intervideo dvd copy, or dvd shrink. Is there anyway I can copy this ?? I tried using dvd decrypter to rip it but just kept getting read errors. please help, thanks!!

You have the files on your hard drive? Asking because first you said you cant rip, then you said you did rip.
-
I cant rip using any other program but intervideo (it took about 1 hr just to rip, i know it had read errors). Once it is ripped though nothing will burn it, but I can watch it fine on my computer. Is there any program that can ignore, or skip over read errors ?
-
the file riped one to one? No lost unreadable data? when you riped with Intervideo DVDcopy2??
-
Yeah, no errors or anything in intervideo, and I can watch it perfect. But when it comes to burning with intervideo it wont do it. I just burned 3 other dvds that I ripped with dvd decrypter then burned with intervideo.

In the settings of dvd decrypter click skip/ignore read errors. That may work..
-
Try to burn it with another program. dvd shrink and dvd decrypter.
Edit..Saw you tried them.. -
I am trying that now in dvd decrypter and it seems to be working, when its done I will come back if I still cant get it to burn. Thanks canadateck

See if there's a used CD place near where you live, they can polish those scratches out. Make it like brand new. I've also seen them offered in stores.

im stuck at 12% on the last file and have 9 read errors and 215 retries and counting. I just cant figure out why the intervideo ripped files wont burn but I can watch the entire thing all the way to the end.
I also tried re-ripping the files from the previous ripped files, if you know what i mean. -
45%, 25 read errors , and about 600 retries. looks like im just going to have to wait this one out.

Ok. lets lay this out..
1: DVD files are riped to the hard-drive.
2: DVD plays fine/Menus and all?
3: Video_TS file will not burn with Nero , dvd decrypter , dvd shrink.
4: Will dvd shrink Open the VIDEO_TS File on your Hard-drive? -
DVDshrink will sorta open it, it starts the file analyzing and gets right to the end and then i get a program error and it closes. MAybe I can try reinstalling dvdshrink. I do have a disc doctor somewhere but I am afraid of using it just because this dvd is so rare. have any of you had success with the disc doctor getting rid of read errors ??
-
There is no risk using Disk Doctor. Rememeber the information is not on the surface that Disk Doctor polishes, the data is on the upper surface of the DVD just under the label.
Disk Doctor does work and will almost certainly solve your problem (IMHO). Follow the directions and do it two or three times if needed. -
I left my disc doctor at my girlfriends house so I guess I will have to wait a few days to get it. There is no program that can just skip over the read errors ?? If any of you copy audio cd's there is a program called exact audio copy that will retry read overs and then eventually skip over them. no ripper can do that ???

Try ISObuster to rip the files to your hard-drive, then try burning them with Nero, dvd decrypter , dvd shrink.

I got an idea and am trying it now. I am burning the intervideo-ripped video-ts file to a dvd, but burning it as a data dvd. After it is burned as a data cd I will try ripping the files into a new video_ts folder. Since the dvd was written perfect and not scratched I shouldnt get any read errors, correct ? Then this rip should be perfect and able to burn using dvd shrink...think its going to work ??

that would be your best bet!

My data-dvd idea worked, burning right now with no problems. if it plays with skips and jitteryness i am going to try iso buster. thanks to everyone who helped !!!!
-
If you "skip" errors aren't you losing information? I think it makes a lot more sense to buff the scratches out of the clear plastic and then properly copy the DVD.

depends on how bad the disc is. to me losing a $50 drive isnt worth a $10 disc. if it's not too bad, yeah go ahead and skip em. if its that hidious use brasso+armor all, dont use crap doctor
