Because of the dvd region ? or because your tv doesn't support pal? What is the dvd error? if any.

Then you can try rip it and burn with dvd shrink. It removes the region limit. Click on dvd shrink for 3948340938 guides.

    Jonnyd, whats your location.

You do realise that region 2 is PAL and if your in the USA, you may even have problems with NTSC/PAL issues as dvd players in the states are capable of playing NTSC only.

I have recently been doing a lot of research about this very topic, and have posted several threads about it lately.

Basically, if you have a Region 2 PAL disc, you won't be able to play in on any standard equipment (players OR television sets) in the USA.

There really is NO easy way around this problem. There's no quick software fix, no freeware that will convert the disc for you.

You can buy a hardware converter, and they are pretty cheap (I've seen them for around US$30).

Or, you can get a Region Free & Format Free DVD player, run the output from that into a DVD recorder, and record the input. If you record onto a DVD-RW you can reauthor it on the computer later.

Which is basically what I've been preparing to do with my equipment. If you would like some assistance with backing your disc up, I can probably help you out with it. Just shoot me a PM or leave me an email here where I can contact you. Otherwise, good luck to you, hope you figure something out!

All you'd need is a multi-system DVD Player and TV, wouldn't you ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

  11. If i use this software https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=221928 and change all the pal settings to ntsc by default shouldlt this work. I am pretty much telling it its not pal it is now ntsc right?

just to let eveyone know that it work i change the pal settings to ntsc and then burn it, it now works in my dvd player.

Thanks for everyone that help out.

Correct. A NTSC/PAL capable equipment would do the job. Unfortunately, this will be hard to find in the USA.

However, here in the UK, almost all (and maybe ALL) equipment is both NTSC/PAL compatible. Actually, i have never come across a dvd player/tv that wasn't.

I will have to disagree with you. to convert from NTSC to PAL the correct and proper way is to re-encode the whole movie which basically takes time.

there is a quick software fix though not gauranteed to work in all dvd players. as in the case for Johnnyd, he has used the quick software fix method (see his post) and it proved to work for him. The quick software fix method doesn't actually convert from PAL to NTSC, rather it fools the dvd player/tv into thinking its a NTSC disc by displaying NTSC settings. which is why it may work in some dvd players and some it may not.

However, having to convert from PAL to NTSC everytime you come across a PAL disc is a time consuming process and becomes a pain. The best option is to invest in a multisystem NTSC/PAL dvd player/tv.

That's what I was thinking. Same here in Australia.

I guess we just don't know how good we got it sometimes ...
    If in doubt, Google it.
