If I was a snide bastard, I suggest you buy the original, however that may be unfair.

What is your player (make/model) ?
What format of DVD did you burn to ?
What burning program did you use ?
Did you burn it as a DVD Video, or simply DVD ?
What do you have on your HDD before you burn ?
    Read my blog here.

The solution is to read and try all of the AVI to DVD guides you can find.

  7. HI,

the process when you burn the mpeg files directly to dvd unclear !

usually, what i do is to use nero ultra edition and chose

" make my own dvd" option

there you can import your mpeg2 files...make chapters etc...then burn onto dvd.

  8. use virtualdub to demux, and then tmpegEnc to convert to mpeg1 or mpeg2;it takes longer but the quality is good.
a lot standalone players can play divx,philips642,xoro,kiss,if you have such a player you can burn them directly to your cd or dvd.
i love this site,it's my favorit.

    Hi Basspro and rock2004,

Easy software to do the newbie job (AVI to DVD) would be Nero Vision Express.
Open the program, chose Make DVD, after that click Add Video files, add your AVI and click few "Nexts".
I've never had a coaster, the quality is the same as AVI source and the resulting DVD's play in standalones.
