Hello,
Pacmania - If you want to do the Tornoda alley stuff you'll have to come in the spring time. I think April to June is the best time.
Kevin
---Just do a net search for "tornado alley" and you'll find a ton on it (tornado alley is the plain states - Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa, etc) ---

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
-
I'm thinking that we'll probably be coming around March/April/May so that should fit in well.

I don't mind the Southern accent on a girl as long as its not too overbearing.
I dislike the really strong Yankee accent. -

I'll try to dig up an audio clip of what I mean. It's not your accent, I heard that on the video clip of you going to work.

Canadians can't pronouce the U after an O I've found from going to school with a Canadian exchange student.
Example. About sounds like Aboot
Couldn't find an example of the Yankee accent so heres an example, they pronouce Aussie, Arsie. -
Back on topic, what are the requirements for buying and insuring a car in the US? I've heard you need a social security number, correct? Is there a way around this for tourists?

Pacmania - seriously I don't really know. Why don't you check out some car dealer websites??? Go to the Big 3 or honda or somebody and click through for an actual dealer website. They might be able to give you some info.
YANKEE ACCENT - Do you mean New England Accent???
Norm Abrham on THIS OLD HOUSE would be a good example.
They say drawer like draw. They also add r's to the end of vowels an awful lot.

No idea who Norm Abraham on This Old House is so I couldn't tell you if that was the accent.

The cheapest in Canada I believe would be Saskatchewan (government insurance) – should be able to pick up a vehicle there pretty cheap too, Take a look at http://www.sasktourism.com/ ...
I’m unaware of the actual rules regarding out of country people owning/licensing vehicles but it can’t be too difficult as I’ve known many who have done this. -
Cheers for the links. If worse comes to worse then I have relatives in the LA who would probably buy the vehicle under their name for me.

Like visit civil war battlefields (Gettysburg, PA in particular is good to visit; if you visit one, visit that one). Try a day cruise on the Chesapeake, or something else local like the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge visitor's center or National Abboredum, etc. At the very least, expect to stay a while and visit the museums in downtown DC and maybe Arlington National Cemetary. Most of the places around here are real cheap to visit, the exception being the touristy food places and parking. If you do drop by here just yell and I can tell you where to park for free.
