I have a Phillips DVP642 and realized that your need to finalize the DVD to get it read quickley on the DVD player. I have a DVD wtih a little over 4 gig of movies and try to copy it to my hard drive. I am unable to do it under XP or Win2000. It starts and gets a error of some type or just hangs up. The same DVD will play in the Phillips 642 DVD player after about 1 to 2 minutes of loading up. Anyone have any suggestions?

If the disc is clean and not scratched then it could be the media.
If you got this disc from someone else ask for another copy on different media. My dvp-642 will do that with a few of my cheaper DVD+RW especially if it contains extra long file names burned in udf mode but it does eventually come around like yours did. As far as your dvd writer or dvd-rom is concerned it may just not like the media either. It would help if you posted the errors instead of just "of some type". Is it crc errors?
