  1. Hey there - I made a small xvid (with mencoder preset) and a bunch of windows folks are saying they have trouble playing it back, yet they have all the most recent divx/xvid codecs and don't have trouble with other xvids found on the net. Am I doing something wrong?

i heard that too in some occasions while using libavc but when I told them to use vlc all was fine.

  3. I have the same problem after upgrading to .9q. .9p results were fine on Windows, but the new version broke something in the xvid codec. Somehow, I managed to make one working xvid encoding, but cannot replicate the results.

I am viewing the .avi's in Windows Media Center, so I don't have the option of switching players.

    Any help, Major?

  4. Is the encoding faster in .9q for xvid? If not, I'll downgrade for the time being.

  5. I'm sorry, indeed 0.0.9q uses a new branch of XviD (version 1.1, while 0.0.9p used 1.0). Possibly this requires update of the XviD codec on the Windows boxes. Encoding is extremely faster due to Altivec optimizations.

  6. Thanks for the help. I'll try to track down an xvid 1.1 binary for windows.

  7. I'm having some trouble tracking down 1.1 binaries for windows. Any suggestions, Major? It is easy enough to find 1.0 binaries.
