  1. i have just bought a macro master pro scart lead.
i have conected it to my Awia video and then to my panasonic e50 dvd recorder.
    all fine so far,
i can view and record PAL UK tapes,
however when i try a NTSC tape the picture comes through however i have a black border on the bottom of the screen
i have tried to change the settings on the dvd recorder from PAL to NTSC
when i change over to NTSC i get the full picture but it is black and white
when the PAL setting is on i get full colour but a black boarder
does anyone know how to remove this boarder?

i dont have this problem with DVDs
i have tried PAL & NTSC dvds and both have worked fine

    many thanks

Does your VHS output a quasi signal or does it convert from PAL to NTSC?
Most likely that is your problem.

If there is no selectable output....and you are in the UK...most likely it is a quasi signal and that is your main problem. If I play an NTSC tape from my VCR to my Philips DVD Recorder....I get squat because my DVD Recorder won't record a quasi signal. The NTSC tape is viewable however straight to the TV from the VCR.
    I'm in Germany.

I've been looking for a way since I got here. I have one or two NTSC tapes I want to put to DVD. I've been searching Ebay for a cheap NTSC ONLY DVD player located in Europe. Found one here in Germany but it went for too much money.
I'm going back to America in January so I'll take my tapes with me and use my dad's recorder IF it is back from the repair place....he bought a Cyberhome.
If not I'll have to convert them to VHS PAL format with my converting VCR that I have back there....not exactly the way I want to go though.
