i have just bought a macro master pro scart lead.
i have conected it to my Awia video and then to my panasonic e50 dvd recorder.
all fine so far,
i can view and record PAL UK tapes,
however when i try a NTSC tape the picture comes through however i have a black border on the bottom of the screen
i have tried to change the settings on the dvd recorder from PAL to NTSC
when i change over to NTSC i get the full picture but it is black and white
when the PAL setting is on i get full colour but a black boarder
does anyone know how to remove this boarder?
i dont have this problem with DVDs
i have tried PAL & NTSC dvds and both have worked fine
many thanks

At a guess, I would suggest that you DVD recorder is unable to accept NTSC signals for recording. When the video player plays back NTSC as PAL, the borders appear because NTSC has a lower resolution than PAL, and the player isn't stretching the image out to fill the screen. When it plays back the signal as NTSC, the DVD recorder can't find the colour signals, and gives you B&W. There are three things you can do that I can see
1. Buy a DVD recorder that can accept NTSC signals as recording input
2. Buy an in-line format converter to convert NTSC signals to PAL on the fly
3. Live with the small black borders on your recordings
/edit
Your player is no longer on the Panasonic website, however the models that replace your seem to only accept PAL signals through the video-in. I suspect strongly that this is your problem
