I'm pretty comfortable Beav using my card with reputable vendors.
Not sure if they still do this but AMEX's Blue card with a RS232 Card Reader allowed you to create "one-time" use CC numbers for online transactions. -
Exactly, if you use it with vendors who have a name your fine 9 times out of 10. Something COULD happen, but then it could happen in a store also.
Just because I'm wondering could you NOT buy the english version of HL2 off steam from Japan? -
I can buy the English version off Steam in Japan, my friend got his pre-ordered with his ATI card. As for buying games I can only get a few games in English here, they come out before the Japanese version gets finished.
At the store, I can buy the Special Edition box full of crap I don't want for an extra 30 bucks, which does have the English install option...no thanks though...SmileSmile

With the card we have, there's absolutely no risk to me because all charges are held by the CC company for 30 days. Once the charge appears on the online or printed statement, I can dispute it with a simple mail-in form and if it's a rogue charge, they won't pay it
It takes the worry out of online shopping.
In the old days we used to have to e-mail our CC number for a purchase with many places. Once I got a charge that appeared on an old, closed account of ours.
The store had sent me a notice about it and included the person's name and address. It was then a simple matter to stroll down to the police white-collar crimes bureau and give them all the details -
Online Ordering is very safe, so long as you use a reliable vendor. If you're feeling a bit uneasy about trying it, just PM me your CC number along with whatever pertinent info needed to get the order processed and I'll be more than happy to place it for you.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.
