Will the "16:9 display" setting in TMPGEnc show the widescreen movie properly on TV when I burn the Mpeg2 file?
That file looks taller than the original when I play it on my computer.
I burned an Xvid Ogg file of a widescreen movie with TMPGEnc DVD Author.
The file properties in Windows Media Player says the resolution of the original file is 576 x 304.
When I was encoding it with TMPGEnc I set the size for "16:9 display".
I encoded a 4 second clip just to see if the size matched but the Mpeg2 file was taller.
So I searched on the this site and read about manual centering.
I centered it with made up figures by trial and error until the Mpeg2 file matched the size of the original on my computer screen.
That happened at 853 x 480.
Then I encoded the whole movie at that size and burned it.
It came out wider than the original when I played the DVD on my TV.
Some of the picture is cut off on the left and right sides and the black bars were smaller as a result.

Reglar WMP doesnt handle 16:9 files well sometimes. Open your file in PowerDVD or Media Player Classic instead, as these properly handle the anamorphic flag in the file.

Thanks.
I tried dragging the sample clip into InterVideo WinDVD 4 which is the program that came with my computer.
On the "fullscreen" setting WinDVD 4 displayed the mpeg2 file as widescreen whereas windows media player didn't. -
