DVD is larger than TV screen

Hello to all.
I'm using ULEAD Movie Factory 3 and everything is fine except two things. Most, if not all of my recorded DVD's come up in a screen size which is a bit bigger than the TV screen size for some reason. So when subtitles are involved I usually cant see the bottom line. Is there something I have to do to fix that?
Another problem is that when I burn the DVD's while they are in MPG or AVI fornats it takes forever and sometimes it even freezes after 5 hours of waiting, so I usually have to convert all movies to DVD format with Main Concept, but that programm doesnt cover all video formats like WMV for example.
Any suggestions?

A TV has 5-10% overscan. You must add black borders if you want the entire image. Search for overscan in this forum for more information.
