Is it possible to format a -RW for VIDEO and/or VR mode in a PC drive instead of in the DVD recorder?

    If so, how?

I never tried but I think it may be possible by:

    1. keeps an image of a blank DVD-video or DVD-VR formatted DVD on your PC
    2. Copys the required image file to a blank DVD-RW disk.

Please post the result if any one has tried it. I am curious to know whether it works or not.

EDIT: After a second thought, I think it may not be possible to create a blank VIDEO mode DVD in this way because I don't know any program that can copy a opened session disk. Am I right?

    YES!
    I do it often.

    ckwok1 method sounds good.

    I copy a VR-formated-blank to a clean disk.

Also, I copied Cypberhome's formated RM & Video_TS folders to my desktop
and copy them to an erased disk.

On the latter method try both "video" & "ISO" mode for your machine and copy app.

    I ignor Nero's error messages.

Great to know that it works!

But do you mean it works for both VR mode and Video mode disc? Or it works for VR mode disc and not sure about Video mode disc.?

I don't know what mode my cyberhome 1500 uses since it can't use VR formated dvd's
    My LiteOn-5001 can use VR & ch-1500 formated dvd's.

In short, I don't know what's going on.

My Sony NC-875V plays VR discs that are not finalized.
BUT it won't play ch-1500 dvd's unless I make them "Compatible"
The LiteOn plays and records on all ch-1500 made discs, compatible or not.
The ch-1500 will play all VR discs but will not record or edit a VR discs.
