I captured 3 old VHS tapes at 352x240, 29.97FPS; I burned to DVD as I captured, and fit about 6 hours on one DVD+RW.
Then, using DVD Decrypter, I ripped the 3 .VOB back to hard disk. I edited them using MPG Video Wizard and exported them back to .MPG at same size and frame rate (so no re-encoding, just cut out some unwanted footage).
Now I'm trying to use Roxio DVD Builder (part of Easy CD and DVD Creator 6 suite) to put these 3 movies back onto a single DVD+R and it's telling me they won't fit. But they all came from one disc so I know they will.
Did DVD Decrypter do something when it ripped, or is this a limitation of Roxio DVD Builder, or is there something inherent about all of this ripping and re-encoding?

sounds like Roxio's trying to re-encode. I'd use TMPGEnc DVD Author (30 day free trial) to load the VOBs using the Add Video button, and it should all go smooth.
EDIT:
BTW, a more appropriate subject that describes your problem might go a long way towards getting better answersIf in doubt, Google it. -
Jim,
Thanks for the advice - I'll try it.
As for the subject line, I'm blaming the forum software - I crafted a descriptive subject line but it was truncated.
