    after updating the firmware for my micro advantage dvdrw ide1008 it wont recognize cd-r's (blank or ones w/data) - all dvd's work fine - no problems before - os is xp - any ideas? - thanks

    You might have to go to the properties tab and enable recording again. This often gets un-checked when the drive is changed.

    When I got this problem with my Plextor, I had to RMA my drive.
