  1. I just bought a Pioneer 108 and I put it in a Bytecc usb external enclosure.
Does the 108 need to be set to master or slave?

  2. Thanks for the reply, I'll try that.

  3. I keep getting this failed burn message after about 2 minutes on the burn.
This is whether I have the drive set to master or slave. Could this be a media problem?

  4. It's probably media related.

Try your existing brand at a lower write speed, and also try another brand.

After that the drive and USB enclosure and the USB connection itself need to be checked.

  5. Do you have USB2? I also seem to recall some BIOSs that need to have Hi-Speed turned on. You might check that.
Still a few bugs in the system...

  6. Yes I do have usb 2.0.. I think I have narowed it down to the media. I can
write to arita 4x dvd+r and ridata 4x dvd+rw. It just won't write to the prodisc 8x dvd+r. My sony dru-500, and nec-3500 both write to the prodisc just fine. I just thought that the pioneer 108 would be more versitile than that. I'm going to try some ritek 8x dvd-r's and see what happens. Maybe the 108 writes to - better. Thanks for the replies.

I'd start a new topic, but this title is perfect.
I'm having trouble utilizing a LITEON ldw-411s in a ACS USB2.0 external case.

I've installed the drive in the case, jumper is set to master. None of my USB 2.0 equipped machines will recognize this setup (all my pc's would recognize the USB when I had a 250gb maxtor in there).

Is it a situation with the LITEON???

    TIA

USB has more compatibility issues with DVD burners compared to FIREWIRE. I'd suggest using a FIREWIRE enclosure with your LITEON drive. Check out the LITEON FORUM at Cdfreaks.com they may have more info. regarding your question.
