  1. On the Videoredo website, they say their software can edit MPEG2 files without loss of quality. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this impossible? I have tried the software, and the editing is extremely easy and quick, but surely you can't edit MPEG2 without some loss of quality.

    Yes, depending on what you put into the word "editing".
    You can cut and add parts without reencoding, but you can't make transitions and stuff like that.

    Most software can do that providing you use the same video settings. The only part that is reencoded which is where you would see the degradation in quality is the parts you edited. This is why it would be so fast too, it's only creating the edited parts.

    Quality cannot die if it does not touch that part of the video. If you need full-on editing, get Premiere or Vegas.

  6. In VideoReDo, if you cut only on I-frames, no re-encoding of the video is required. If you cut on a P or B-frame, a small amout of re-encoding is done in the area of the cut.
