  1. why do my backup copies of dvds get "blocky" and then freeze - most generally at the very end of the movie??? i am using dvd shrink - eliminating the extras of the movies - burning with nero. i have an athlon 2300xp processor with a sony 500dru-500a burner.....i use only ritek media. i've closed all of my other programs during the process - defragged - even burned at 1x speed - - i cant think of anything else that might help....thanks in advance for help.

Sounds like poor media. Ritek ain't what they used to be. Blockiness and freezing, especially at the end of the disk are classic symptoms. Try making the target size smaller in shrink so you don't burn right to the edge and you might have better luck with this batch of disks.

Yes, there are 2 paths to follow: Either buy the best media there is (see www.nomorecoasters.com) and fill your DVDs to the brim, or buy whatever media is for sale at the moment, and keep your backups not above 4.2 GB. I've chosen the latter.
