    - fading
    - titles/credits
    - special effects
    - image speed in/de creasers
    - volume changing

    Hi skip2mylou,

It all depends on your budget.

Check out "Basic Video Editors" and "Advanced Video Editors" in the "Tools" section...

I'm gonna assume you'd prefer cheap / free, so here's a couple I either know or have seen recommended:

Fading: May be one of Avid Free DV, Zwei-stein, Wax 2

Titles/ Credits: BluffTitler, Ulead COOL 3D

Special Effects: Wax 2 or (possibly) Zwei-stein

Image speed in/de-crease: May be one of Avid Free DV, Zwei-stein, Wax 2, (possibly) Avisynth (can be tricky to learn)

Volume changing: Audacity (free) or Goldwave (cheap) - both audio editors.

For (lots) more pennies, you could look at Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Avid Xpress DV, combustion, Vegas 5 etc.
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

    Carpe diem.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.

You can view your version by clicking help>movie make version. You can download the upgrade free from microsoft if you don't have the newest one. After importing your video drag some clips to the timeline. Click edit movie on the left which will open up a drop down menu. Click view transitions. Drag a transition between any clip..... I haven't used movie maker but that's how you do it.

For easy/cheap try Ulead Video Studio 8, it will go from capture to burn and includes basic functions you have mentioned. If you want to try something a little more adventurous try Media Studio Pro for editing & DVD Workshop 2 for authoring.

  4. I would also like to add Womble Video Wizzard as it can do basic transitions and titles
No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space.

  5. Most have some transision . But would recomend just stick with Fades and sharp cuts. Els it turns out not to look so good.

If you want to go nuts then any of the big boys can do simple and complex.
