Hi Major,
ffmpegX 0.0.9q is incorrectly identifying my source video file’s format, resolution, and frame rate. I routinely capture TV shows in iMovie 2 using a Canopus ADVC-100, then export to QuickTime using iMovie’s “iDVD” preset. The .MOV is 720 x 480, NTSC 29.97 fps, verified by opening it in QuickTime Player & checking its attributes. But when I open it in ffmpegX 0.0.9q, it incorrectly identifies the file as 720x576, PAL 25 fps. If I then select the “DVD ffmpeg” preset, the resolution, frame rate, and PAL settings remain the same.
I’m also having a problem with the audio encoding that seems to have started with 0.0.9p. When I choose the “DVD ffmpeg” preset, the resulting AC3 is 0K in size. If I bump the video encoding bit rate from 4000 to 5800, the encoding process fails completely. If I bump the video bit rate to 5800 but set Audio to “Passthrough,” the video encoding goes fine. I'm not sure if this is related to the problem reported today in the forum post entitled, "refuses to enconde in AC3."

Consider emailing me a link to a small clip, so as I can test. My email is major4@mac.com
About the AC3 problem, I can't reproduce it here. It seems to encode AC3 normally.
