  1. i have owned a DVDRW for about a year now. it is a Sony DRU-510A. i have read many guides/articles from this and a few other sites but my discs still refuse to play. i have downloaded .avi and divx files and tried to convert them with Winavi, TMPG, and D.I.K.O. The file seemingly converts without a hitch, then the burning process seems to run well also, yet when i insert the disc into my DVD player i get a "No Play" or "insert new disc" error message. Both of my DVD players are compatible with DVD-R and DVD-RW. Could it be my choice of media? I have attempted Fuji-Film DVD-RW 4.7 GB and Memorex DVD-R 4.7 GB. Any help in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated. I have tried to us TMPG again, but this time i get an error message reading "Can't load P3Package.dll".

    Two things to remember:
    1. Create MPEG files that are DVD compliant.
    2. Author, dont' just burn.

After converting to MPEG2, you need to author the DVD structure, are you doing this? How are you burning?

    What they said.

There are a few players that will play MPEG-2 burnt as data, but there are 1,000's that won't. TMPGEnc DVD Author is my tool of choice, but there are many alternatives - Take a look in the tools section under authoring for more. DVDAuthorGUI and IFOEdit can do it for free, but are a bit limited with what you can do compared to ones you will pay for.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Im tearing my hair out with the DVD burning problem i have. My DVD Burner wonr burn DVD-R discs that my DVD_rom can read. Which is so frustrating.

Ive only been able to get my DVD Burner to burn DVD+R discs as both Video and Data to work in my DVD-Rom and DVD Player.

Ive no idea why my DVD-Rom wont read DVD-R discs when my DVD Player can.

Are you sure your DVD Player supports DVD-R and DVD-RW

You need to make VOB files for a DVD Movie, use Nero Vision Express for this.

Courstarr24 Try DVDAuthorGUI. It's free and works well, especially for a simple DVD. You will need to Demux the file with Tmpg first.

    Later!

There are many ways to measure success. You just have to find your own yardstick.
