OK...I am bored with the splash screen of the Lite-on LVD-2001.
So I thought I had a look at the firmware to see if I could change it to my own splash screen. I exracted firmware version 3.02 from Nero image to "real" files (/bin, /dev, /fonts, /proc, fipmodule.o..romfs.bin..).
As we all know LVD-2001 firmware runs a mini Linux distro and the firmware image is actually a busybox that updates the firmware chip.
Now your background image or splash screeen is inside the file "romfs.bin". Mount this file and you will get another small linux distro. There is a file called "logontsc.jpg" on the root folder.
This is your background image file. Replace with your own and you will have your own customize background. There is also folder called "img" that holds all your menu background images.
It is possible to change the driver for loading that "pcmcia" to driver that loads an IDE hard drive. Have'nt gotten into that yet.... anybody?
I have only replaced the background file in the rom file. I have not tried to flash my LVD-2001 yet!!!!
