  1. Hope this post is in the right forum ?
Just wonder how to capture/snapshot from original movie (vob file) to make a label for printed DVD, what's tool needed ?
I don't have the original image for DVD label so I have capture/snapshot from playing back frames by using nero 6, but the resolution and size was not good to print to printed DVD. Any ideas and suggestions ?

    thanks in advance.

    Hello,

Use a dvd playing software like powerdvd to take a high quality bmp snapshot.

Or I think a website like cdcovers might have it for you

---just do a net search for your movie and you'll probably find a label for it ---
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

I think he already did something like this. The problem is DVD is only 720 * 480 (or 576 if its PAL). This is fine for video, but looks crap when a still frame is printed.

  4. Thanks for your replies, yes I did snapshot but the quality was so crap on printed DVD. Did search some site for cover but could not find them ( my movies are not from USA)

  5. I use VirtualDubMod to do my screen captures. It captures at 72dpi. I can then open the image in my image editing software (Paint Shop Pro) and use the resize function to resize the image, keeping the actual print size, but increasing the number of pixels per inch.

  6. pudah, I resize and increase the pixel too but still look crap on printed dvd. Is virtualdubmod support VOB format ? What is original size and resolution if you capture from Virtual and how you resize (size and resolution) to fix dvd label. How your printed DVD look ?

I cheat. I use the frame capture, but I put more than one image for one DVD. I arrange 4 images and the printing is nice.

  8. VirtualDubMod does support VOB files. If I can find one I've printed, I'll see if I can scan it and upload a pic.

  11. Try Womble MpegVcr. Load vob, play it, stop it whereever you want and press button to take snapshot. I use it for covers and menus. Decent quality.
