  1. I bought a Ben-Q dvd writer a few months back, only used it a few times, but on those times i had no problem.
Now when i go to use it to burn anything, my entire computer freezes...you can't even ctrl-alt-del.
This has happened using different software and different operations (burning a movie and data disk)

Any idea of what the problem is or how to resolve it, or do I just have to bring it back?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

Any chance you've updated either the firmware of the burner, your burning software, any patches for Windows, etc etc. ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. If you have another drive on the same channel, remove it and try the drive attached as the only drive. Benq drives are known to be picky, my 822 only works set as the slave drive, and completely refuses to work in any external enclosure.

If this works, with the drive set to either master or slave, then maybe try reconnecting the other drive with the Benq set as slave. If the Benq is the only drive on the channel, try setting it to slave.
