Hello,

I'm currently having trouble with this dvd writer and was in the block. It seems that it cannot read cdr but it can read dvdr. When I put in cdr, nothing happens, and when I try to burn from cd to cd with nero (chose cd and dvd) nothing happens and they prompt me to insert a blank cdr disk, but the disk inside is 100% blank.

Another problem occur, when I put in a dvdr, the cd drive label cdr. I think it is because of this that I cannot burn my vob files onto the dvd with ease. In the end, destroying many dvdr +.

Alas, no help from me, just a confirmation of simular problem with nec 1300a. Will not read or write cd anymore. (winxp-home, some sp2)

Don't know when it started because I wasn't burning many cd's.
Odd thing is I know the burner is still good even for cd's as it will burn them when I go ro Compaq/HP recovery to make a set of recovery cd's.
Just won't work with xp

I have not tried any fixes as I have another burner and the nec still does dvd ok.

I just don't think it is the burner itself.
Using pre-installed RecordNow and bundled Nero
