Yup, and I already spend more then that a month on stupider Toys. If you play more then a few hours a week an MMO is not a bad deal.

I'm sorry. That was a very poor attempt at sarcasm on my part.

They wouldn't have to raise the price that much. I would also find that the cost would feel so heavy if they made a solo version to play on the computer when you're not online. You can get people who don't have internet connections (or slower connections) tho purchase the game as well.

Well at this point if you dont think a big target demographic is people without an internet connection. Heck look what valve recently did with their activation. And it plays fine on a 56k as long as you don't get a bunk connection.

As far as the price, well look at it like this. It cost the same as a normal game. Yet WAY MORE dev time and money goes into it. You pay for the making of the game, then you pay to play so that the game can KEEP running.

Are they charging more then their cost? Of course! Its a product made by a company.

What happens in 10 years when there's only 20 people that want to play? That type of game requires an ongoing commitment. Without enough customer's playing the game, at some point it becomes worthless.

True, but I doubt I'll be one of those 10 people.

I will say though that people are STILL playing Ultima Online, they even had an expantion recently. It came out in like 1997. But in the MMO arena only the strong survive, but I have few doubts that WoW can cut the mustand. Personally I think EQ2 might have a bit of a problem between WoW and EQ1 players who seem to be happy without the new game.

I spend enough time on-line without playing an MMO.

I'm still waiting for the MMO release of Global Thermonuclear War.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

I'm already playing the MMO Reality Earth and there's about 6 billion people playing right now. Software is free. network connection not required, and killing is much more fun.

But you don't get to do it as often, and the penalty for dying is much higher then the other MMOs.

At least the graphics are good. Or at least a lot of them. I think the video rederer went on the fritz trying to create ghettos and trailer trash neighborhoods.

General FYI, I'm on the Blackhand server playing a Druid named Jentrial.

Also I tend to level slow, so it would be quite easy to catch up or ever more likely pass me.

Sounds like the way you drive.

Just picking. Way too open to let that one go.
