First of all, thanks for the quote.. I fixed that grammar error at the end of the sentence.
I wasn't directing my comments at you. I do slightly differ in opinion from you in that I come to slightly different conclusions, but you're not running with blinders on like most of the people who just have an opinion and treat it as fact.

I think when the players and whoever else are saying the fans are going too far already they're referring to racist stuff. That's what Vernon Maxwell went into the stands for, right?

Basketball games are THE WORST sporting events I have ever seen....or is that THE BEST sporting events I have ever seen for stupid disgraceful acts like this one.
Most basketball fans are just as dumb as the thugs on the court. Fifth grade brains with a street gang mentality....not to mention the stupification of this sport in the 70's to accomidate the lack of brains it takes to understand the act of "travelling" with the ball. Those of you old enough remember being called for travelling in high school?
**** 'em....fire them all.

Vibe Magazine Addresses Awards-Night Melee
By Gail Mitchell
LOS ANGELES (Billboard) - Vibe magazine president Kenard Gibbs says the violent altercation at the publication's awards show this year won't prevent it from holding the event in 2005.
"We're doing the awards show next year," Gibbs says. "If we don't, it will be counter to all the things we have been able to do with the brand and the culture."
Since the fracas that interrupted the taping of Vibe's awards show Nov. 15, G-Unit member Young Buck -- who allegedly stabbed the man who hit Dr. Dre -- is out on bail after turning himself in to authorities.
Calling such violence "sickening," Gibbs says we have to ponder the hip-hop culture's mentality. "Violence has unfortunately been associated with hip-hop since its beginnings."
Gibbs also wonders what negative effects the Vibe altercation, as well as a recent brawl at an Indiana Pacers-Detroit Pistons game, may have on the marketing strides black artists and athletes have made and on the participation of hip-hop acts in other shows.
"There's a common theme to all this," Gibbs adds. "Young black males gone wild. Taking street mentality to resolve conflict and bringing it into entertainment and sports has gone unchecked. All of us within the culture have to look at this and develop some means of accountability."
Vibe's January issue will examine not only the awards-night incident but attitudes within hip-hop culture that may bear some responsibility.
"This is paramount in terms of understanding what allows things to get to that point," Gibbs says. "That night took from the whole spirit of what the show is about: the best in urban music. We still have faith in the culture. We will rise above and endure."
"There's a common theme to all this," Gibbs adds. "Young black males gone wild. Taking street mentality to resolve conflict and bringing it into entertainment and sports has gone unchecked. .....sound familiar? -
I recall an incident from the NFL where a 'fan' went running out onto the field while the teams were in their huddles......
The fan went running as fast as he could right up to one of the players in one huddle and before he got to that player, one of the other players in that huddle stuck out his forearm and it looked like the dog on a chain when the chain runs out ......
He got clocked good..... and in that incident, I can't blame the player for what he did - the fan had no business being there and who knows what (if any damage) he could have done to a player who didn't see him coming.
I don't remember the player or even the team, but the clip pops up every now and then on a bloopers reel. I remember seeing the post game interview where the player was asked why he did that to the guy.... his response was something like:
"The player has no place in the stands and the fans have no business on the field.... we're professionals trying to do our jobs. We don't go running through their place of work and interupt their jobs, do we?" (not an exact quote, but close to his response)
That's been the unwritten rule for some time in sports. (Unless you're a Packer and it's the "Lambeau Leap") -

There was also a time when a fan ran out and grabbed the ball and one of the defensive players laid him the **** out.
You don't see that behavior in football because the fans wouldn't stand a chance in a physical confrontation with those guys. I mean, let's face it...Ray Lewis is not the best Linebacker in the game because he's such a nice ******* guy.
You will also notice that behavior does not take place in boxing or hockey. Yea, let a fan jump up in the ring and lets just see how far across the arena Tyson knocks his head. Or how someone like Marty McSorley will dislocate his sternum.
Basketball and baseball are by definition passive games. Granted basketball is a very physical game when you play it, but you never see a "Woooo" hit in basketball. You see "Woooo dunks" or "Woooo blocks" in football, hockey or Boxing when someone gets laid out, every person watching the game all go "WOOOOOOOOO" at the same time.
You can see a little change in the NFL, if you watch it very much. You see particularly receivers showing up their opponent with endzone celebrations, thanks to Owens and Chad Johnson and the like. And to be honest, if I had the money I would pay the fines of every defensive player who laid those SOB's out. I've written several letters to Paul Taglibue about that bullshit and then not letting defensive backs hit defenseless receivers. That's bullshit. Tell the QB not to hang them up in the air and they won't be defenseless.
I'm pretty sure Darrel Stingley knew Jack Tatum was in the Raider's secondary, but he ran his ass in there on a post route just the same, the ball was high and he got to meet Mr. Tatum violently. The SOB's knickname was "The Assissin" he didn't get that by handing out cards and candy. Taunting the other team did not happen back in the day because someone, the "tounter" would pay for it.
When's the last time you saw a batter taunt Roger Clemens? That's right, because everyone on earth knows the next one is coming up and in, at 95 mph.
I think the fans see the players taunt other players and they think they can too. It's all bullshit anyway. Give me College Football and Basketball and for that matter Baseball anyday over Pro sports. -
The fans pay their money and have every right to view the game. The fans are there to support their team supposedly, yet so many fans take delight from belittling the other team and/or its fans. What is up with that ?
The stars get paid to perform and achieve the desired result at any cost. Whilst they are meant to be pros, doesn't mean they aren't human.
Tempers flare, and decorum gets thrown out the window. The stars have no right leaving the playing arena, just as the fans have no right entering it. Whilst a star should not be affected my members of the crowd, they should not be subjected to projectiles being thrown at them either. If in doubt, Google it. -
The time Artest has away from the game should give him plenty of time to work on his gangsta rap cd he's been working on. No doubt his bad boy image will increase the sales to future thug's who want to be just like him.
