    Hi InnocentCat;

You can't reclaim deleted space the way you want to with the R04. Sorry, just a fact of life. I would also caution against deleting part of the programs on a disc and then continue recording on the disc, I have had problems doing that on my LiteOn 5001. The R04 might not have the same problem, but I wouldn't chance it if I were you. The way I now record is to fill up a +RW, even if one show is a rerun or something else I don't want to keep, and after the disc is full, I transfer the shows to my PC hard drive for editing and final re-authoring. I then erase the entire +RW for reuse.

  3. I purchased my first Ilo recorder on Sunday. When I hooked it up I repeatedly hung. I would have to hold down the power button to get it to reset. Sometimes it would work for an hour or so and other times only about 2 minutes. I took it back and got another one and it works fine.

However I am experiencing a small problem with this one. It records just fine and the quality is great with the exception of the first 3 or 4 rows of pixels at the top of the screen. They are a flickering whiteness that causes a major distraction when watching a show. Is there someway to make this go away?

    Thanks,

    Bryan

  7. Is it possible to title each chapter on the iLO? Or, do you have to stop and restart each recording session on the same DVD+R? Or, can you just pause the recording?
No problem with MV yet. But if it happens, how do I install the firmware hack? Do I just download and burn to a CD and play the CD on the iLO?
Thanks for any help. I'm new to all this.

You can rename any title using the information on chapter 23 of the manual. This will also allow dvd+rw recordings to be played in other recorders. I don't think you can name every chapter, but you can stop and start again creating a title that can be named.
Yes, just burn the hack to cd and pop it in the Ilo. Instructions will happen onscreen.
The hack, I used 1097, works like a charm.

  10. The different firmware are for different burners in the units. You can tell by the firmware number on your machine.

    serial number 4E01-184x-xxxx-G2Bx
    451S Drive.

    serial number 4E01-184x-xxxx-B20x
    813S Drive.

  11. Here is another 'glitch' I found with my Ilo DVD-R04 recorder. I had the unit set up on the timer to record 4 1-hour shows on a blank DVD-RW (set up for 6 hr mode). After the 2nd show finished recording it started the 3rd but only went for about 30 seconds then it shut off. I had to manually start the recording quickly. Any clues on this one ??

  12. Please visit my ILO DVDR04/HD04 Firmware site for the latest firmware upgrades for the DVDR04 recorder.

The site includes the latest firmware for the DVDR04, hacked to include LP 3-hour mode and disable MacroVision.

  13. Just got back to this forum after Near Year's holiday. Thanks for the info on editing and hacks. I did a recording off a digital cable channel and no problems with MV. I'll wait and see if I come across a source that sets off a false MV before I try any hacks.

As long as the TV has composite video input (yellow, white, and possibly red RCA jacks), you'll be fine.

If the TV's only inputs are for RF signals (antenna/cable), either the coaxial 75-ohm F-type connector or the 300-ohm screws, then you're out of luck (unless you buy an RF modulator). The DVDR04 does have coaxial RF connectors, but only for antenna input and pass-thru; the DVD signal does not go through the coaxial output.

  16. I am trying to finalize a DVD-RW on my Ilo DVDR-04....and I keep getting a message for me to swap the DVD's. Why is this happening ? I checked the manual and it doesn't give any info other than basically 'push the button and let it happen'. Thanks

  17. The recorder will not write to "-" media. It will only write to "+" media. That is why it is telling you to swap the media. Also it will not finalize RW media.

  18. Let me correct myself....I actaully am using DVD+RW discs. Are you serious that the unit will not finalize DVD+RW media ? Does that mean that I can only view the DVD's on the Ilo DVDR04 unit....and not on my pc where I could possibly edit anything that I have on there ? Is there any other way to finalize the DVD+RW so that I can view it on other machines ?

You need to follow the instructions on pg 23 of the manual and title the disk.
    That makes it playable.
I emailed Ilo tech support about the inability to play +rw's recorded on the Ilo and that is what they told me.
