  1. I've been using DVDShrink 3.2 for quite a while with no problems, but now, just as soon as it will open, the screen goes all black and white stripes and nothing else will work, not even Ctrl+Alt+Del. I simply have to push the reset button.

Tried everything: uninstall, re-install, system recovery (since I installed TMPGEnc DVD Author and Mainconcept after DVDShrink) but NOTHING worked.

To be exact, it actually opened fine just ONCE when I re-installed it, but on second try crashed again...

    Any similar experiences? solutions?

try using a older version of DVD SHRINK to see if it crashes as well. here's a link for older versions like 3.05b is a good one to use.

  3. Yeah, it worked fine. All the versions that require an actual "installation" did crash the system, so there's something there. Your solution worked, so I guess I'll stick to it. If everyone comes up with any ideas for solving this it would be great, since the newer versions are better and easier to work with!

    Thanks!!

  4. Well... must be something to do with my drive (LG - 4160), since I formatted the hard drive, installed system all over again and as soon as I installed DVDShrink it crashed the system again... strange and a real pain!

I'm wondering if you don't have enough memory on your pc. 128 mb is not much even though you're using windows 98.

  6. Sorry, forgot to mention... I'm using PIII 450, 192 ram, WinXP now... may be even worse right? The thing is that it DID work many, many times before...

You may need to update your bios on your motherboard.

You may need an updated video driver as well.

If 3.2 worked before (you are sure) and you reformated and only installed 3.2 (nothing else), then you must have some sort of hardware failure that only shows up under stress. This could be power supply or cpu heat.

In my reply, I failed to consider that you said 3.05 worked. This would put the same stress on the computer as 3.2. So I suspect you installed more than just XP and Shrink after format. SP2 does cause problems.

  11. I think Bazooka got it guys... It's a video driver problem. After I installed SP2, for some reason it changed the video driver for my card. Now I installed the good old driver and so far, so good...
