  2. MPereira, i've emailed you the ASPI Layer, let me know if it helped you out.

BALLO, I hate to say this but... Toshiba are pretty crap, i've seen a 16x/48x model rip maximum at 1.3x, so if you get to 2x, you should consider yourself lucky.

  3. Is it commonly known that toshiba rips very slowly? Is there nothing I can do than just buy another player? For a 2 hour movie I have to wait for 1 - 1.5 hour...!
    This sucks!

  8. BALLO, from my experience, Toshiba are nearly always slow, even their latest models which are 16x/48x, still rip barely at 1.2x

DMB{2002}, You didn't give many details, so I suggest you first check your DMA/Sync and latest IDE drivers and ASPI, Firmware can also improve performance for your DVD, so check if there is an updated one compared to the one you have on your Lite-On.

BALLO, like Pinoy, I would also highly recommand the Pioneer, they are pretty cheap (around 50 to 60$) and rip the fastest.

Hmmm, I always thought the Toshiba's were good stuff. Boy, am I glad I bought a Pioneer DVD-116! The other night, I was ripping "Scarface", its 2 hours and 43 minutes, and it took me 6 minutes! The rip went up to 15.8x! Now thats fast!

Another good option is Aopen. They're rebadged Pioneers and are just as good! Cheap too.
