    Using DVD Shrink...

I have a DVD movie and I want to copy my favorite parts. Each of the 13 parts that I want are between 1-3 minutes. Once copied, the 13 scenes are identified as separate "titles". I would like to merge all the scenes into one "title" and add chapters. Can DVD Shrink do this? If not, is there a free download that allows me merge the "titles"?

    Hello,

    Use "reauthor" mode (in dvdshrink).

You can select chapters and/or segments.

    Hi,

I have been using "reauthor" mode.

Once I open the DVD file in DVD Shrink, all I get is the "titles". How are you selecting chapters?

EDIT: I can only select the whole movie, there's no option to select the chapters, at least as far as I can see.

    Hi Stryker,
From what you say, have you already got 13 seperate vob files copied to your hard drive and want to join them together.

Try using TMPGEnc DVD Author or Nero Express

this is done behind the scene where you just press the next key on your dvd player remote and the next "chapter (title)" will play. you do not have a front-end menu to navigate this, though. but if you have TDA you can easily do this.

    hi remmo,

I'm new to this so I'll try to explain as best I can.

    I'll start at the beginning...
    1. Use DVD Decrypter to store the dvd movie to the hard drive.

    2. Open DVD Shrink then open dvd movie file. Click re-author. On the right side of the screen my categories are menus, main movies, and extras.

    3. I double-click on "title 10" in the main menu category which copies the file to the left side in the re-autored dvd section. "Title 10" is the main movie, 120 minutes long. I copy "title 10" 13 times because there are 13 1-3 minutes scenes I want. What I have at this point is 13, 120 minute movies.

    4. What I do now is I use "Set start/end time frames" on each of the identical movies.

Ex. 1st scene I want is 5 minutes into the movie and it's 1 minute long. I click on the "Set start/end time frames" and set the start time at the 5 minute point and the end time at the 6 minute point. This would give me 1 minute of footage from the 120 minute movie. Next I click on the second identical movie, but this time I set the start time at the 12 minute mark and the end time at the 15 minute mark. So this would make my second scene 3 minutes long. I do this 13 times because there are 13 scenes I want to copy (from the same movie)

Once I'm done I have 13 "titles" (1-3 minutes long per title) in the re-authored screen ready to be saved to the hard drive.

When I get 120 minutes worth of clips then I will burn it to DVD. So when I play the DVD it plays each title one after the other. The problem is since each scene is reconized as "titles", I can't chapter skip back or forward. I would have to choose the titles in the DVDs menu, and that's a pain. Plus when I rewind it stops at the beginning of the current scene rather then continue to rewind to the previous clip.

To answer your question "remmo" if the main movie is a vob file, then yes I want to join then together and insert chapters. I would need a free program though.

I'm sure there's an easier way to do this by buying a program such as DVD Cloner II, but I just don't have the money.
