I bought the movie "Elf" this weekend and want to back it up to DVDr before my neices and nephews get their hands on it at Thanksgiving. (I had to repurchase Grinch last year because of them.)
I've backed up many DVDs with DVD Shrink with no problems in the past, but now I get a "encrypted sector" error.
I've tried playing the disk with Power DVD first to unlock it, and it played just fine, but DVD Shrink still gets hung up.
Has anyone else had trouble with this disk? Is there anything else I could try?
Thanks!

I have not try Elf yet, but try ripping it to your hard drive first. With DVD Decrypter then use dvd shrink.

I copied Elf with no prob, both discs. I uses DVDDecrypter, and dvd2one and imgtool burn and it copied fine on an NEC2510

I backed up Elf for similar reasons as you..
But anyway, I used Dvd shrink to copy it to the HD then used nero to burn it back. I did the full disk (WS version) but I did turn off all of the non-english language parts.
It backed up with out a problem.

I restarted my computer, then just for safety's sake, played the disk a bit with Power DVD, then DVD Shrink + Nero worked just fine.
Thanks for the help!Billy Myers
