  1. Hi

I have just read one of the posts in this forum, about how to get 4 episodes of a tv series onto a dvd and some people suggested that the way to do this is to lower the bitrate. So my question is how is it possible that when you buy a tv series on dvd that they manage to fit 4 episodes onto the one dvd without a loss of quality?. Is it because the production companies have expensive software or something?

    Thanks in Advance

nah, it's cause it's a dual layer dvd and your puting it on a single layer dvd...basically you have half the space to work with. somethin like that i would use dvdrebuilder

Yes, and most of all, they have better source material. However, depending on episode length, (I suspect 1/2 hr each?) given good source material, it will also come out with high quality when encoded/authored as DVD even when produced with the "pro-sumer" tools avalable to us mortals.

The other way is to use half D1 resolution, multiple pass VBR encoding and much more efficient encoders than you or I can buy.
    If in doubt, Google it.
