  1. I have searched the fourms and looked at the guides and still have not really been able to come up with a solution... If I posted this in the wrong fourm please move it to the correct one (sorry.. first post).

    Anyhow I have downloaded a bunch of rmvb files lately (45 min tv eps) and unfortunally everything released in the last 2-3 months are unplayable in media player (with real alternative installed). This means that encoders such as tmpgenc don't work anymore

    What I have been told is that EOwin will convert these files, but it will only convert them to avi, vcd or svcd. so my question is what is the best way to go about doing the conversion to DVD format (mpeg 2) with the least amount of quality loss.

    I though about going the following route but there must be a better way... double encoding is going to cause a lot of quality loss...

    RMVB --> Xvid (eowin) --> mpeg2 (tmpgenc)

    Would it be better if I went RMVB --> AVI (uncompressed?? at what resolution?) --> mpeg2?

    or is it possible to make the output settings in eowin for a svcd in a way that the file would be equilivelent to a mpeg2 file for a dvd?
