I am having trouble with DVD Lab Pro and the concept of using
4x3 and 16x9 movies together on one DVD-R. I have read some
help files on the DVD Lab forums, but it is just not happening for me.

Could some kind soul do a screen capture of both the DVD Lab
Project Window and the Connections Window of a project where
they have implemented 4x3 and 16x9 movies, and upload the jpeg
here on forum, as that would be a great help.
After all, a picture is worth a thousand words

I would be even more grateful if someone could PM me and organise
to email me a simple 4x3 and 16x9 Project Template. Of course the
template would tell me that it cannot find the movies, but at least
    I would have the basics.

    Thanks in Advance...

Have you created separate VTS for the 4:3 and 16:9?

    Yes I have.
What I cannot grasp is the menu concept. I have two movies, one is 16x9 the other 4x3. I just want one menu, displaying the two movie titles, and these would link to the appropiate movie.
That is why a Connections diagram (jpeg) would make all the difference. I could actually see what is happening, and what links with what.

  4. zenzen1,

Place the menu in VMG space (domain), create two buttons, and link to each movie. One menu that can call either VTS movie.

Set the return link of each movie back to the VMG menu.

    It's that simple.

Just remember to set the appropriate audio stream in VTS space (or learn to program VM commands - not necessary though) if you have multiple audio ES' (elementary streams).

  5. Zenzen1,

Take a step back and learn about DVD structure and domains (space).

Here is an excellent starting point that walks you through both topics. You will learn alot without realizing it.

Armed with this knowledge, you can go back to DVD Lab Pro (DLP) and understand why some linking works and some doesn't!

Are you are only wanting a play button for each video? If you don't need scene selection menus you only need the VMG menu. Delete the default VTS menus that are not used or the compiler will complain.

The VMG menu will be your main menu. Add links that point to the start of your movies. Be sure to set the aspect ratio for each movie VTS. Note however that some kinds of links cannot be made into a VTS from the VMG. But just PLAY buttons will work fine. From the connections window just link the movies back to the VMG and you'll be all set.

Thanks Guys for you input. Lots to learn, but already it is becoming clearer. Plus, on the DVDLab forums, "darkframe" provided a link to a Connections diagram, which makes things a lot clearer. Now to make time and read up some more
