how do i convert quicktime mov to avi

so i can use avisynth to convert .mov to .avi, sweet,
and whts an AVS File?

***ok i dl'ed the file....... umm how do you work it? do i copy the files into somthing? and i wanted to know somthing else, wht formats are for wht? mpeg for vcd, and mpeg4 for dvd, rite?

the .mov file dosn't have an audio file to it... i tried loading it into virtualdub, but that didn't help, i can't find it in the files. wht do i do?

***this is frustrating.... why can't i do it with TMPGEnc? it tells me here https://www.videohelp.com/tmpgenc.htm that To convert from QuickTime MOV videos you must download the QTReader.vfp and copy it to the TMPGEnc folder. i did that and i still can't do it! it tells me in TMPGEnc that the file cannot open, or unsupported. how do i dl that file into TMPGEnc?
