  1. i got some videos of ffx (the fmv's) off of a site, and i cant play them in any other player besides divx, why is this?? it freezes in tmpgenc, and doesnt play in ulead video studio or premiere, or windows media player.

    the video codec is:
    DivxNetworks Divx v5
also known as DX50 (i think) (foudn this out using AVI Codec)
is there maybe a different codec i need? if so can you link it for me?

    thanks in advance.

reinstall divx 5. you can also try install ffdshow or use the xvid codec to decode divx 5.

and try raise the directshow priority in tmpgenc, www.videohelp.com/tmpgenc#problems

  3. Your files are probably incomplete. At the end of a divx/xvid avi file is a list of all keyframes in the file. If this list is missing many players lock up, crash, or otherwise refuse to play the file. You might be able to fix the problem with a program callled DivFix.
