Hi,
My cousin has a laptop and wants to do video capture for DVD. Not looking for the absolute highest video quality, just something that works well with no issues.
Haven't been keeping my eye on the outboard capture devices because I use a desktop. Don't know what's out there.
The laptop is newer, so speed shouldn't be an issue. Operating System is Windows XP. Not sure if the USB ports are 1.0 or 2.0 though.
Thanks much for any help!!!
Roy

Well,
I live in Brazil and bought in USA an ADS DVD Xpress USB video capture card... really cheap and efficient... works with USB 1.1 and 2.0, but in 1.1 mode bitrate is up to 4 Mb/s only, while in USB 2.0 port I can capture up to 9 Mb/s...

I have a USB 2.0 and a Firewire port, but want to transfer from VHS and DirecTivo. -
I use the ADS Tech Instant DVD 2.0. Works wonders. I would recommend it.
