  1. Hello,

I converted all my mpg files with WinAVI Video Converter for dvd-compliant.

Then used DVD-lab PRO [demuxing] so it separated the file into 2 files *.mpv and *.ac3

Finally I used TMPGEnc Author DVD author 1.6 to make the menus and cut some of crap out of the video that I did not want.

Everything was dandy until I noticed on the finished product DVD that the audio was not in sync with the video.

Is there any tutorials on how to fix this or anything else I should try to fix this?

    Thanks in Advance!

What is your sorce material? (Format, frame rate...)
What is your target? (Frame rate?)
Why do you demux with DVD-Lab before authoring?

Try some "??? to DVD" guide found here - they work if you have good source material, if not, nothing works...

I don't think that you need to demux. TDA will accept the output from winavi, no?

  5. I just reviewed the Output video from winavi.

That audio is in sync with the video. The only thing now is that TMPGENc AUthor will not recognize the .VOB files from winavi.

The only way it did recognize it is when I demuxed the vob.[which created it to get out of sync]

my .vob files are in sync with audio, I just now want to create a nice menu for them...

Im gonna read some guides to see if I can figure it out, if any one has any suggestions please post.

    Thanks

My suggestion is to encode with a dedicated encoder like TMPGEnc, MainConcept... instead of a "one-click-wonder" to mpeg.
Or if DVD-Lab, works, why not go ahead and author with DVD-Lab? After all, that's what it's for! No need to demux, then author with a different app?

Yes, it gives me an error message It must be in computer language because I can not make out the error message. Then I click ok and the TMPGEnc shuts down automatically...

  9. I also tried to make VIDEO_TS folder to see if TSP will recognize it, but no luck..

I like the ease of TSP but it does'nt seem to be wanting to work for me. I am reading as much as possible with dvd-lab pro right now, but it is still giving me the same out of sync with audio as before. I think it has something to do with the DEMUXING of Dvd-Lab Pro, which throws it off.

I want a simple menu for a couple of music videos and im going on my 2nd week on this project! It did not take me this long to learn how to back up my dvd..\

Thanks all for help; I will continue to read dvd-lab pro and see what happens!

Backing up a DVD is the simplest task in this business. The source is (if not badly scratched and damaged) perfect, it's a very well defined standard, allowing for sharp tools.
You sources are "mpg files" - of unspecified flavor and origin. If they aren't already DVD compliant, what do you have against reencoding them to DVD spec mpg using an mpeg encoder? That's the tried and trusted way to go about these things. When you have DVD compliant mpegs, then it's time to bring out DVD-Lab, TMPGEnc DVD Author or other authoring app.

Oh, there are many - Most notably CCE, TMPGEnc, MainConcept, ProCoder. Freeware alternative is QuEnc, but then you have to feed your video thru AviSynth, which in itself can be a daunting experience if you're not already familiar with that application.
On the Easeofuse vs Quality scale, I'd say TMPGEnc wins the race.

  13. Hehe, Seems like I made a complete circle..

I started about 2 weeks ago with another thread about TMPGEnc not working for me. I started testing other proggies and now Im all the way back to the beggining. (with alot more experience in mistakes)

I will try it again, Im going to reinstall TMPGEnc and if it does not work, I will go to the other software that you mentioned here. I appreciate it very muich..

If you get into problems with TMPGEnc, there's a special guide for fixing all(?) problems you might experience. But in my experience, when something doesn't work as expected, it's mostly due to bad source material.

  15. I reinstalled TMPGEnc and it worked!!!

I have not actually burned it off yet because I have to Encode all the files again.. But It works!

I have looked at some of the guides and I noticed most of them say the LAG in encoding with TMPGEnc. It is taking me about 18 minutes for each file and I have about 80 or 90 files to go.

Thanks again all especially mats.hogberg for pushing me on this. It finally works!

Anytime! 80 - 90 files to encode - WOW! You know you can add a lot of encodes to a "batch" and then set TMPGEnc off, so you don't have to encode, set up the next, encode, & cetera. Might save you some time...
