  1. I'm totally lost on this and have exhausted days trying to fix it. Here's my problem. I cut videos from different sources (Some i capture, some i download, some friends capture) I capture mine with virtualdub, and use tmpgenc to encode it as mpeg2. I take all of these clips and edit them and add effects in Vegas Video. I then render it as an uncompressed avi because i dont like vegas video's mpeg2 encoder. I then take this avi and render it with tmpenc or recently i've been using cce with a 5 pass vbr. If i play this finalized mpg on my computer or on my tv through my comptuer quality is amazing, crystal clear. The problem is when i put it on a dvd the clips that i capture and my friend capture are fine, the clips though that i get from different sources are jumpy and i can see the interleaving lines. The entire 1 minute clip would be jumpy and jittery, when the clip changes to another video (one that i capture) it goes back to playing back fine. I am a somewhat of a noob so the only thing i could come up with was maybe the field order was different in my vidoes and the other videos. I was thinking if i render the avi as progressive instead of interleaved would that get rid of the interlace lines. i dont know that probably makes no sense what so ever. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What process/app are you using for your final conversion to DVD?

It sounds like you are capturing interlaced footage, but some you are capturing bottom field first, and some top field first. When you pull it all together, some are getting reversed. On the PC everything looks OK because your s/w DVD player plays everything as progressive. Burn it to a dvd, and the TV shows up the flaws. I would check the field order of good and bad clips to see if this is the case.

  4. I have used both tmpgenc and cce to make my final converstion to dvd. Then i use Sony DVD architect to make the menus and burn it onto dvd. Since i encode it as a compatable mpg2 dvd architect doesnt need to reencode it.

guns1inger, thats what i was thinking, that the field orders were different. Is there anyway to fix that after i have encoded it as an avi with vegas? I ask this because i have other videos that do this which i no longer have the clips. I only have the final dvd mpg available.

    Thanks for your responses
