  1. I am converting all my VCD collections to DVD, and with the help of TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6, I could pack 4 VCD movies onto 1 DVD.

I created all DVDs with the followings Menu Display Settings:
" Display Menu Settings: Only Main Menu"
    "Firstplay Action: Display Main Menu"
" Action to take after each track has been played: Display Main Menu"

These three options all worked fine, but the problem is: in the middle of playing the DVD, the "Menu" button on the DVD player doesn't work, i.e. if I selected a wrong movie, then there is no way for me to re-display the menu and re-select the movie. Stop/play doesn't work, stop/stop/play doesn't work as well (both cases will not display the menu, only either continue or start from the first movie), the only possibility to re-display the menu is to eject and load the disk again.

I can always bring up the menu in normal commercial DVD at any time of playing.

Are there any options that I'd forgotten in TMPGEnc while authoring my DVD?

BTW, my DVD player is Philips DVD-963sa.

Thank you very much for your time and help,

Have you got a button on your remote called 'Title', if so try that, I think I've found pressing Menu does not do much when a DVD is authored with TMPGenc DVD Author, but pressing the 'Title' button stops what is playing and takes you back to the main menu

Those are the same settings I use for TMPGenc DVD Author as well

TDA isn't a very good authoring program. It's just dummy-friendly and generous on accepting files. This is one of many, many errors of the software.

  4. Thank you very much for both of your reply.

I will check and find the "title" botton on my dvd's remote control, thanks for the hint.

What else do you recommended except TDA? I had downloaded the Ulead DVD Workshop 2 Trial version but it seems too complicated and the worse is it doesn't split the two languages that I have on most movies. Seems like I need to first extract the sound before authoring.

Any other suggestion for easy to use yet good program except TDA?

    Thanks once again.
