  1. Hello all,
I would like to know how this can be done please...?
I have a movie that I just finished creating and editing but I wish to view it on my TV set. It is now mpg format.
How would I convert it to VCD or SVCD, without loosing quality if possible?

    Thank-you.
If it's working... don't touch it.

  3. Hello again,
Can this one be used to create the CD itself?
If I wish to create a menu for the CD, can I do it with this application ?

    Thanks again.
If it's working... don't touch it.

  4. TMPGEnc is for making VCD, SVCD, or DVD compliant. There is a plugin available to import .mov files. For creating menus I would use VCD Menu Lite.

  5. So in order to convert the file to VCD compliant I would use TMPGENC Xpress and after I get the output I use it on VCD Menu Lite?

    Thank-you.

You could also display on your tv if you have an s-video port on your computer.

No it's not! It's for encoding digital video of different formats to mpeg of different variations, some of which are suitable as source material for creating VCD. To actually create a VCD, the mpeg then has to be authored (use VCDEasy for this).

  8. Helo again,
I tried to use VCD Easy in order to create a VCD from my mpg file. For some reason it came out very bad. What I mean by this is that the DVD player plays it bad, it looks like many small squares that contain the images of the movie.
I can hear the audio OK but the movie is all distorted
Basically what I am trying to do is this, I am using Pro-Show in order to create a slide show on VCD. The first VCD I created came out just fine, and plays well on my desktop DVD player. Since then, I am having nothing but trouble with my newer VCD's. For some reason the sound seems like it is faster than what it should be... and it looses sync with the movie. Dont know what happened...!?!!?
So I tried a workaround, use Pro Show to create a movie file instead, and then use another spftware to make a VCD out of it.
As you read in the beginning of my post, it went sour as well.
BTW, I am in PAL region.
    Friends, please advise...
    Thank-you!

    What kind of "movie file"?
What software used to tahe it from "movie file" to VCD spec mpeg?

  10. Thank-you Mats.
The movie file is mpg. The only thing ProShow let's you configure is the quality, low, med, high, extra high and the audio quality, normal, high. Now that think of it.... I have not noticed the frame rate for PAL or NTSC(25 or 29.97), maybe this is what is giving me the playback issues. PAL has to be 25 right?
The conversion from mpg to VCD was done with VCD Easy program.
I really do not understand much in these settings. For example, in order to play a NTSC file in a PAL region DVD player, it has to be multi system and also the TV...?? or not necessarily the TV as well?

    Please enhance a bit.
    Thank-you for the patience.

Wonder what ProShow means by quality settings, as VCD is pretty much defined (not much quality changes to make!)

No idea, as I've not used ProShow much, and then only to make DVD.
There ought to be some instructions on how to create a VCD? If not, try output to highest possible quality, reencode mpeg with TMPGEnc to VCD spec mpeg, author with VCDEasy. Check the output after each stage.
