I can't decide if this is possible or not. I've got a Hauppauge wintv go pci card that appears to capture tv only in mpeg1, avi or divx. Is there any way to capture in mpeg2 with this card? I'd like to use it for pvr purposes, with Hauppauge's scheduler software, but can switch to other software (freeware preferably) if necessary. I don't want to capture in avi, but I want better results than a vcd. It doesn't matter that this would be software encoding on the fly, the pc is a 2.8. I don't need it for anything but tv recording, as I have another pc with a pvr 250, firewire card and a digicam with passthrough for all the other stuff. Thanks for any help on this.

It should be possible to do, just not with that software.
