Anyone have any samples of Epson 200 (or any) printed DVDs

I simply can't stand my R300 anymore. It gets worse every day. Here are some shots of it.

You can definitely see some problems.

The originals are a lot clearer at the print size and resolution. The actual prints really don't look any better for real than the low res uploads do. I'll never buy another epson again. Hopefully cannon will get their disc printers out stateside soon and I can pawn this thing off on some poor unsuspecting fool.

It use to look a lot better than this, but after the first 6 monthes it started having issues, especially with banding on discs.

Poppa_Meth have you cleaned your print heads? If not then of course it looks like that.

Does the printer support printing all the way to the hole? Are such disks avaialble?

Prodisc Hub Printables go to about 22mm. That's the closest to the hole I've seen.

Then that sucks. If its still under warranty then get Epson to repair or replace it. I have only had my R200 a few months and so far the results have been great. I hope mine doesn't turn out like yours...but then again I've already spent more on ink then I have on the printer itself so I'm not all that concerned.

yeah I'll likely be contacting epson soon before its too late. I would normally think it was just a defective unit, but the problem developed over time and I've seen quite a few topics about problems with epsons print heads. Wish I'd have seen those topics before buying one. Too late now though.

Funny I have like 5 R200 and a R300 and all print wonderfully. Ocassional hicup on loading tray thats all.. maybe its user error?

I don't see where it could be user error. I'm using the same setting that once worked beautifully. I haven't changed anything about how I do it. Besides it's not exactly a difficult process to figure out to begin with.

I have a box of cdr's that have white tops, just like the cdr's that are white top printable. Is it safe to try one, to see if it prints?

I've just ordered a box of these Prodisc hub printable CDR's. It's so much fun printing directly to DVDR's that I figure I should give it a go with CDR's, too. I'll post how they work out on the R300, but I expect the printable surface would be similar to the Prodisc hub printable DVDR's.

I apologize if this is not the right place to post..

For those movie titles that have no CD covers (I get mine from ccovers.com), how does one convert a DVD rectangular picture to one like a CD picture...I really don't know Photoshop or any other graphics program.

Is there a cd template that I can just drag the DVD graphic cover and it will at least (not looking for a perfect fit) make a decent CD cover to be printed onto a dvd printable disc..or are there any guide that would have this kind of information.

One easy way is to do it within the Epson Print CD software. First, select your background image.




1. Select Background again, then choose Image Adjustment.




2. Select the Template tab, then move the template around to choose which part of the larger image you want to appear on your disc.

Are they injet printables, like these?

Yes, they look like ink jet printables. My question really is concerned with any risk to the printer, if I try one of the disks?

If they are inkjet printable CDR's, then I don't see how they could harm the printer any more than inkjet printable DVDR's.

Just had to share with everyone. I just recieved my TY DVD-R hub printables and they worked great. But back to this topic, the print quality on them is incredible with my Epson R800. I have to say that the R800 is incredible at printing and well worth the money if you have it. If I get a chance and get my scanner to scan the dvd prints good enough, then I will post those pics later. For now, it is almost Christmas, I am tired after working long hours this week to finish this project, and I am going to go relax! Happy holidays and Merry Christmas to all...

Tried one of the disks that look like injet printables and the ink didn't stick to it, I wiped the ink off with a tissue after 24 hours.

the epson software sucks. I have this label making software for cheap stick on labels, it just lets you drag, drop, and double click to auto size, then drag on the 4 points of a circle to adjust. the epson software screws up every disc printed just a little.

Use these settings:
Paper option:

Size: A4

I designed it myself because with Corel you have more creativity options. If it is not perfect enough, you can work on it and make it better.

I've had it up to here. I got the feed system from www.inkproducts.com because I know Epson charges "American gasoline prices" for its ink. The system clogged. And the Epson is designed NOT to be cleaned. If it clogs, the printhead dies, and it costs more to replace the head than to buy the stinking printer.

I wish Canon would straighten out its stupid patent problem and sell a CD-printing printer here in the States. And I want to give the executives at Epson a lesson in customer relations and product quality, by spending a few minutes with them in a closet, cheese grater in each of my hands.

Ive had my R200 for a couple of weeks now, and I get pretty good looking prints on the disc themselves, but ive never gotten color saturation such as in that simpsons cover and the track runner posted above.

Are those actuall scans of the printed disc, or are they the image that was printed.

What settings were used in PrintCD??

Ive tried bumping up the saturation and the contrast a bit in photoshop before I open the pics up in "PRINTCD" and it helps but nothing to the extent of the above posted pictures
