What is the best free registry cleaner type thing. I am scared to install any such program from Google without prior advice because I don't want spyware.

  3. Adaware scans your registry. Its not spyware, its completely safe. You can get it at www.download.com , just do a search for ad-aware.

I already use Adaware. It doesn't seem to help either.

    Thanks for the responses.

In my experience, the best reg cleaner is yourself.

  10. Depends what OS you have.....which you didn't mention 888888, nor did you mention what type of computer you have. Nor what specific issue you got.

Frankly, just use Restore & return to a time things worked right for you.

That's what the "Computer Details" tab on top of every post is for Handy. You will notice that I have one of the more detailed spec lists. As for my problem(s), I mentioned one of them in another post, namely that my Game Controllers tab in Control Panel freezes. Also, my mouse software seems to have messed some things up.

Often the software does not delete everything that needs deleting from the registry, so I know it is not what you want to hear, but you are probably better off deleting the stuff yourself.

    Sorry.........

To be honest with you, I am not familiar enough with the registry to just be able to figure out the problem. That's why I was looking for a "quick fix" with this thread. I guess this will just be another thing that I am going to have to learn how to deal with in detail.
