Here's what I was trying to do...Shareky's Machine is a movie from the 70s that was recently shown on late night cable and recorded to my Tivo. I wanted to archive it for later viewing so transferred it to my Mac using iMovie and my ADS/Pyro.
The film is just over 2 hours long so I trimmed the opening segment deleting the animated start-up logo and most of the credits at the end. I got it down to 1 hour 58 minutes. I trimmed a short scene out of the middle of the movie by copying the clip it was in to another iMovie project then trimming it down to just the part where Rachel Ward walks into a room slowly removing her link lingerie...well, you get the picture. I wanted to use that as an animated background in an iDVD theme.
Well, I kept getting the too long to burn error message until I exported the clip using Quicktime Pro but striping off the sound track...the final clip was small enough to include as the opening sequence! It looks very cool! I took frame shots as backrounds for the chapter menus although I had wanted to split the Rachel clip into three segments...too long for all three but one does just fine!
Now if I could only get one of those DL burners for Christmas....
