I have a dozen or so .wmv files that I got from a legitimate source on the net. When you open the file, you are prompted for a user name and password. After entering this info, the video will play. All of a sudden, the user name and password no longer work. Why? How do I remove this protection so that I can convert it and burn to DVD?

If you got it from a legitimate source, then you should be contacting them for the password.
