I have several DVD authoring/burning programs. DVDshrink, IntervideoDVDCopy, DVDFab, Nero6. I find myself using Nero Recode when I write to anything but a DVD+RW as it is the only software that lets me choose my burning speed. The burn speed with the DVD+RW is 2.4 so I do not have to choose a setting less than 4X. When I use DVD+R media rated at 4X, the softwares want to burn at that speed. I get appx 10-20% bad writes at that auto selected burn speed. I have found that I get 100% good burns at 2.4X useing NeroRecode, even if the DVD+R is rated higher, Probably my media quality is the problem. However, I can not select (as far as I know) the burn speed in DVDshrink, InterVideoDVDCopy or DVDFAb. Is there no speed selection or have I just missed the setting?

Sounds like you need better media, I never have any problem burning at full speed on 4X media. DVD Shrink will let you set burn speed, when the box comes up with options before burning click on I think it's the last option on the right, there you can select burn speed.
